High Borrans Lodges High in the Lakeland Fells on a working hill farm are two beautifully situated timber lodges, both luxuriously appointed to provide the perfect self-catering get-away for couples seeking peace and quiet amid stunning Lake District scenery. We have two lodges at the High Borrans site, named 'Rydal' and 'Far Sawrey'. They are identically finished and equipped. High Borrans Lodges are only a very short drive from the main access road into the Lake District (A591). Windermere, with all its restaurants, shops and other amenities, is barely 10 minutes’ drive away, and the M6 motorway can be easily reached within 20 minutes.

The kitchen is very well appointed with electric oven and gas hob, toaster, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, in addition to the all the usual equipment ![]() High Borrans Farm High Borrans Farm is a 1000 acre working hill farm, with a flock of some 1200 Swaledale ewes and about 25 beef suckler cows. The land rises to about 1300 feet on heather-clad fell tops, which were formerly used for grouse shooting. The farm is nowadays the most wonderful environment for nature lovers. The farmland is an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) and parts are also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Out on the fells you may glimpse red and roe deer, and closer to the farm, we have tawny and barn owls, and many varieties of bats living in the old barns. ![]() ![]() ![]() ~~~o~~~ High Borrans is farmed by the Hodgsons, who also farm at Rydal and Hartsop Hall.
