Ashness Farm

Ashness Farm is a family run, traditional fell farm with its origins in the 16th century.

The Grade 1 Listed farmhouse has lots of old fashioned charm and many original features.

We are located at the southern end of Derwentwater, close to the market town of Keswick,
in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley.

A 500 year old working farm house

Ashness Farm with it's origins in the 16th century belongs to the National Trust
and is a traditional working fell farm. The farmhouse is a grade 1 listed building
and has a lot of old fashioned charm with many original features.

All the rooms face out towards Derwentwater and the fells beyond that
Catbells and Maiden Moor and behind them Causey Pike and Grisedale Pike.

All rooms have large windows to the front of the house except Amboth which
only has a Mullion (thin long glazed window) to the front and a large window at
the back looking up the Amboth range of fells which rise up behind the farm house

From the front and to the North you can see Bassenthwaite
lake and the Skiddaw fells sitting above the market town of Keswick

The picturesque Ashness Bridge and the stunning vista of Surprise View are
easily accessed via the permissive footpath which runs through the farm.

Ashness Farm provides an idyllic location whether you are a regular or first time
visitor to the lakes. We are situated to the southern end of Derwentwater in the
beautiful picturesque Borrowdale Valley, we are between the famous Ashness Bridge
and the stunning vista of Surprise view and close to the market town of Keswick.

Breakfast

All of our breakfast is Aga-cooked. We can cater for vegetarian and gluten free diets
if told in advance and are happy to discuss others. We prefer to use our own or locally
produced ingredients where possible especially our Cumberland sausage, free range
eggs and Cumbrian bacon. Packed lunches are also available on request.
