Nestling in a dip in the bilberry clad hillside in the hamlet of Kemple End at Stonyhurst,
Alden Cottage
is set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Ribble Valley and
Forest of Bowland
and overlooking the Hodder Valley.
Alden Cottage accommodation is a world away from the noise and traffic and yet less than
4 miles
from
the bustling market town of Clitheroe and half an hour's drive from the M6 and towns
of Preston and Blackburn.
We offer both award winning Bed & Breakfast accommodation and a delightful award winning
Self Catering Holiday Cottage and pride ourselves on quality and attention to detail.

Alden Cottage accommodation is the perfect base for a walking or cycling holiday, for discovering
the wonderful villages and scenery of the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland by car or
simply
relaxing and unwinding in picturesque surroundings.

A comfy night's sleep is assured in the romantic en-suite double bedroom with exposed oak beams,
central heating, electric blanket, hairdryer, radio/alarm, tea and coffee making facilities.

You can relax and enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine in front of a roaring log fire in the cosy oak
beamed sitting room, which includes electric central heating, flat screen TV/DVD player,
hard disc digital recorder, CD player, video player recorder, antique furniture plus wood burning stove.
The sitting room has beautiful views of the cottage garden and Ribble Valley.
Alden Cottage Self Catering Kitchen
From the dining area, the double doors lead to a compact but well equipped modern kitchen with
electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and iron. We think there's everything
you'll need if you decide to exercise your culinary skills in true self catering style, including a
lovely garden and patio area at the rear of the cottage should you wish to enjoy al fresco dining.

2009 saw our B&B winning a VisitBritain/Kellogg's Breakfast Award. As well as our traditional
Lancashire breakfast using local ingredients and home-made marmalades, you can choose
from a selection of lighter alternatives. Enjoy our refreshing fresh fruit salad followed by
creamy
scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or delicious blueberry pancakes layered with wild
blueberries and served with creme fraiche?
We also offer vegetarian options and are happy to cater for special diets if advised in advance.
We can arrange packed lunches if advised in advance and, for cyclists, we are happy to lock
your bicycles in our garage overnight.
