A horrible start to the day in Coniston, but would things improve for the Wyre Ramblers?

As the autumn colours start to show their golden hues Wyre Ramblers take a trip to the Lake District. It's a mid October day and, for the time of year, definitely on the warm side, with plenty of hazy sunshine to start the walk.

The weather forecast was for a day of sunshine, but then again, I've fallen for that one before when visiting Tarn Hows. Still, given the good forecast, and the fact that it's late October, it should be a worthwhile journey. The colours are wonderful at this time of year whatever the weather - within reason that is!

I've recently been trying my hand at stitching together some of my landscape photographs. With virtually no financial outlay it's added a completely new dimension to my photography. Given the fact that I've hardly mastered the most basic of techniques of both the picture taking and software I would say that I'm delighted with the overall results. They may not be anything brilliant but I'm more than happy to have them in my collection. See what you think, then give it a try, taking panoramic landscapes can be a lot of fun.

In my view it's the best time of the year for walking and photography, the last two weeks in October and the first two weeks of November. Given the some half decent weather it's a superb time of year, a perfect time to take a short "Take a Break" in Scotland or Northern England.

Taking a break in late autumn is my favourite type of short break holiday. Would this, the third of our walks prove to be as good as the first two.

Even in the Lake District it is possible to find peace and tranquillity at the height of summer, and as long as you don't choose the same day as the Wyre Ramblers you'll be unlikely to cross paths with more than a couple of a handful of people on the northern fells of the Lake District.
