We offer a four-star bed and breakfast experience in our converted chapel in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Our aim is simple: we want your stay at Bottom Chapel to be the very best we can make it. We want you to feel relaxed and comfortable and free from the pressures of life. Ask for anything we haven’t provided: if we can do it we will. Bottom Chapel was built by the Methodists in 1878 and was a place of worship until the mid 1990s when it was partially converted by the people who lived here before us. We completed the conversion during the summer of 2009, to provide two additional bedrooms with high, leaded windows, a lovely library/sitting room on the third floor - and a model railway room for Ian.

Alfred Wainright's
Pictorial Walking Guides

Originally compiled in the 1950s and early 1960s, the Wainwright walking guides
are perhaps the most distinctive and unusual such guides ever devised. The result
of painstaking and lengthy research by their namesake and author over a period
of thirteen years, the guides have retained their original format and design
to this day. The books contain intricate hand drawn sketches by the author,
detailing routes of ascent, and gradients of the hills in and around the Lake
District and outlying regions.
