Our holiday cottages are mostly in the Western Lake District, especially in Eskdale, Wasdale, Ravenglass, Gosforth and Ennerdale, although we also have houses in the Borrowdale valley near Keswick, in the Duddon Valley near Coniston and in Grasmere. This part of the Lake District has a slower, quieter pace of life than in the more bustling centres of Windermere and Ambleside. Here, there are still more sheep than people, a real sense of tranquility, and hundreds of wonderful walks, either along the river banks at valley floors, the coastal beaches of the Irish Sea or high up on some of the most spectacular fells in the country.
Our self-catering accommodation gives you the flexibility to cook at home, or to visit the many welcoming pubs within easy reach, offering traditional Cumbrian foods and ales.

Short Breaks available outside of school holidays
Come and relax at Fellside holiday cottages, on the lower slopes of Catbells with stunning views of Derwentwater and the Borrowdale fells and valley. Set in 8 acres of private woodland gardens, home to the red squirrels. The cottages are 4 miles from Keswick and a 10 minute walk to Derwentwater. There is direct access straight onto the fells and lakeshore through a private gate in the garden. We also have cottages a short distance away in the Newlands Valley. Derwentwater lies to the south of Keswick, and Manesty is situated at the western side of the lake. The Borrowdale valley runs beside the lake and down to the Honister Pass which leads to Buttermere. It is a beautiful part of the Lake District.

Melbecks is situated at the foot of Skiddaw and close to the northern shore of Lake Bassenthwaite, just to the north of Keswick in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. We have 5 self catering cottages providing accommodatio for up to 21 people. 'Randel', sleeps 2, is a former cow byre and provides cosy accommodation in a single open plan room. Conventionally laid-out, 'Dash', sleeps 4, looks out towards the play area and on to towards Skiddaw. 'Dodd', sleeps 4 is open to the roof eaves and has a galleried double bedroom. 'Skiddaw' sleeps 4 and looks out across Bassenthwaite Lake towards Binsey and Barf. 'Uldale', sleeping 7, has an upside-down layout making the most of its views towards Skiddaw. At Melbecks we look forward to welcoming you and your dog(s). The Lake District is a great place to bring your dog and we can provide advice on where you can walk your dog locally, on and off the lead.
