Brockelrigg is a luxury bed and breakfast B&B guest house in Port Carlisle on the Solway Coast of Cumbria, just a few miles west of the historic city of Carlisle. We're the perfect location for a short break "away from it all" whether visiting the Solway Coast AONB, historic Carlisle, walking Hadrian's Wall or visiting the North Lakes. Our location is very peaceful and there are outstanding views over the Solway Firth towards Scotland. The sunsets here can be quite stunning!

Alfred Wainright's
Pictorial Walking Guides

Originally compiled in the 1950s and early 1960s, the Wainwright walking guides
are perhaps the most distinctive and unusual such guides ever devised. The result
of painstaking and lengthy research by their namesake and author over a period
of thirteen years, the guides have retained their original format and design
to this day. The books contain intricate hand drawn sketches by the author,
detailing routes of ascent, and gradients of the hills in and around the Lake
District and outlying regions.
